Description

This collection consists of records related to the assassination investigation of President John F. Kennedy. The John F. Kennedy Records Collection Act was passed by Congress in 1992 in response to widespread doubt by the American public surrounding the circumstances of Kennedy’s death. The Assassination Records Review Board was created by this Act and given the task of identifying and declassifying files on the assassination. This collection consists of letters from the Assassination Records Review Board, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the United States Secret Service regarding the release of Kennedy era documents. These records discuss Lee Harvey Oswald’s activities prior to November 22, 1963 and the U.S. government’s investigation of President Kennedy’s murder.
