This collection consists of the records of Lissa Muscatine from her time in the First Lady’s Office. Muscatine served as a Presidential Speechwriter, 1993-1995, Special Assistant to the President and Presidential Speechwriter, 1996-1998, and Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the First Lady, 2000-2001. This series highlights the First Lady’s various domestic and international trips and events, including her speeches, schedules, and related press releases about the events, and the press credentials of those covering the events. This collection also contains records relating to the First Lady’s press interviews and television appearances, as well as her column Talking It Over. Background material includes articles and news summaries used by the Press Office in drafting statements, press releases, and speeches and responses of the First Lady. The collection also contains files created by Marsha Berry, who preceded Muscatine as Director of Communications for the First Lady from 1996-1999.
