This collection consists of records related to Richard Trumka. Trumka was President of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) from 1982 to 1995. Trumka served as Secretary-Treasurer of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) from 1995 to 2009. This collection contains event guest lists, memoranda, and email. The guest lists are for the following events: the White House Conference on Corporate Citizenship in 1996; the White House Coffee guest list for March 6, 1996; the signing of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996; the signing for the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997; and the signing for the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. Memoranda in this collection concern President Clinton’s meeting with the AFL-CIO Executive Council, including Trumka, in 1995. Email in this collection includes correspondence concerning labor positions on policy development.
