School Discipline Policies - Collection Finding Aid


This collection consists of material related to school discipline policies, including clippings, correspondence, diagrams, notes, remarks, reports, resumes, and routing information which primarily date from 1993 to 1999. Correspondence is between the White House, the US Department of Education, Members of Congress, departments of education on the state level, intergovernmental bodies, and professional associations. Topics include the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and proposed amendments to reauthorize this act, disciplining students with disabilities, school discipline issues between Virginia and the US Department of Education, the discipline of students bringing drugs or firearms to school, and the White House Conference on School Safety.
