Description
Red satin quilt with blue edging and symbolic, multicolored applique. A medicine wheel in colors that represent the four cardinal directions (red, yellow, black and white) is nested in a circle of nine white tipis. The tepee circle is flanked by coup sticks draped in eagle feathers and a set of crossed peace pipes hovers above the central design. An inscription that reads "Oglala Lakota Nation Honoring President William Jefferson Clinton" is embroidered in blue thread across the center of the medicine wheel applique. This gift commemorates the President's visit to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, a stop on his New Markets tour.
