Collection No. 2016-1126-F
This collection consists of material concerning Laura Tyson and trade between the United States and Japan. She was one of President Clinton’s most trusted economic advisors, serving on the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) from 1993-1995 and on the National Economic Council (NEC) from 1995-1996. The trade imbalance between the United States and Japan was her main focus during this period. Tyson created the “Framework Deal” as the beginning point for all negotiations involving the two countries. Areas of negotiation included autos and auto parts, glass, and semiconductors. The collection contains talking points, correspondence, memoranda, notes, and newspaper articles.
