Description

This collection consists of records related to the Albania country files maintained by the White House Office of Records Management (WHORM) system. The records include memoranda, reports, and correspondence to and from congressmen and senators thanking the President for his friendship with Albania and urging him to meet/invite Albania President Sali Berisha to America. The correspondence also relates to the treatment of ethnic Greek minorities in Albania, the Albanian parliamentary elections, the emigration laws and policies of Albania, Berisha’s constitution regarding religious matters, the tensions/fighting in Albania and Kosovo, the brutal murder of at least 45 Albanians in Racak, Kosovo, and the humanitarian efforts regarding the refugee crisis and camps in Albania and Hungary.
