This collection consists of records related to the Clinton Administration’s policy toward the Republic of Angola. Specifically, the documents address administration efforts to support an end to the Angolan civil war through interactions with President Eduardo dos Santos and UNITA leader Jonas Savimbi, sanctions against UNITA, support of the Lusaka protocol, and participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions. It contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, and emails between National Security Council staff, particularly in the African Affairs directorate.
