This collection contains material pertaining to the investigation of Whitewater Development Corporation and Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan during the Clinton Administration. This segment is devoted to responsive records from White House Counsel’s Office CF (confidential file) boxes and consists of Bates Series S documents which were given to the Senate over the course of the investigation. The files consist of articles, briefing papers, calendar entries, computer printouts, correspondence, court documents, depositions, document production logs, drafts, candidate financial statements, legislation, letters, meeting notes, memoranda, news clips, payroll information, phone logs, press statements, reports, schedules, subpoenas, tax returns and other forms, testimony, and transcripts. Major topics covered include the Department of the Treasury, the Independent Counsel statute, James McDougal, Kenneth Starr, Jim Guy Tucker, Madison Guaranty, the Resolution Trust Corporation, Rose Law Firm, Vincent Foster, Webster Hubbell, and Whitewater Development.
