This collection consists of records related to the appointment of Gary Kenneth King to the Department of Energy. In 1998, King became the Policy Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in Washington, D.C. Within a year, he became the Department’s Director of the Office of Worker and Community Transition. This collection consists of correspondence relating to the recommendation of Gary King to serve on the President’s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology, memos from the Department of Energy, Presidential Personnel, and the Counsel’s office regarding Mr. King’s approval for the appointment. The records also contain candidate summary forms and resumes.
