Middle East Peace Process - Collection Finding Aid

Identifier

Description

The Camp David Summit of the Middle East Peace Process was held July 11-25, 2000 at Naval Support Facility Thurmont, more commonly known as Camp David. This collection includes records from the NSC related directly to the Camp David Summit of the Middle East Peace Process (MEPP). Responsive documents in the collection are dated primarily between June and August 2000. Early in July 2000, President Clinton proposed initial points of discussion and President of the Palestenian National Authority, Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak agreed to come to Camp David. The meetings at Camp David were, by all accounts, frank, open, unprecedented, and historic. Given the highly sensitive nature of the dialogue during the Middle East Peace Process a majority of the records are closed for foreign relations or national security reasons.
