Description

This collection consists of records related to a telephone conversation between President Clinton and Ryutaro Hashimoto, Prime Minister of Japan. In December of 1996 Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru (MRTA)–or Tupac Amaru–raided the Japanese embassy in Lima, Peru. The group was able to take approximately 500 people hostage and held them for five months. Records to be opened include emails, memorandum of telephone conversation, and administrative documents.
