This collection consists of White House Office of Record Management (WHORM) files that contain correspondence, memoranda, and speeches related to the Northern Ireland Peace Process. WHORM records contain correspondence from congressional members, the public, and Irish-American social organizations. The correspondence and memoranda contain suggestions, ideas, and concerns for the President regarding the Northern Ireland Peace Process. The letters talk about the concern for peace, the Human Rights Violations, a possible Special Envoy, and possible meetings with Gerry Adams President of Sinn Féin. There is correspondence in support of appointing George Mitchell as Special Envoy for Investments & Economic Initiative in both the Republic and the North. The records also contain numerous letters supporting the president for all his efforts and hard work and correspondence from the President thanking everyone for their support of him. This collection consists of Automated Records Management System and Tape Restoration Project emails that contain office correspondence concerning the Irish Peace Process. A majority of the emails come from NSC email accounts. These NSC account emails include press guidance and drafts of the 1998 National Security Strategy Report. Also, included are emails from the scheduling office concerning the President’s and First Lady’s trips to Ireland and Northern Ireland in 1995 and 1998. The records of the National Security Council (NSC) in the collection consist of correspondence related to the Irish peace process. These correspondence are from members of the House and Senate, the public, and Irish-American social organizations. The collection also includes administrative paperwork related to decision memos and correspondence tracking. Cables in the collection reflect reporting from newspapers, television, and radio; and review events related to the peace process. Cables also reflect reporting from Belfast and London on the positions of Sinn Féin, Fianna Fail, Social Democratic and Labor Party (SDLP), Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), Ulster Democratic Party (UDP), Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF), Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA), Progressive Democrat Party (PDP), Progressive Unionist Party (PUP), and others. Email generally consist of discussions of scheduling, correspondence response, and document tracking.
