Description
An account of the resource
This collection consists of the records of speechwriter Josh Gottheimer. Gottheimer served as Special Assistant to the Director of Speechwriting in 1998, where he supervised the Speechwriting Office’s internship program, and as Presidential Speechwriter and Staff Director from 1999-2001. This collection consists of draft and final copies of speeches for President Clinton and Chief of Staff John Podesta as well as the corresponding research, memos, and discussion notes. Gottheimer specialized in drafting speeches for sports events, videos, and radio addresses. There are also numerous speech drafts, memos, and notes from brainstorming sessions from the 1998-2000 State of the Union addresses. In addition to these, the files include correspondence, memos, schedules and calendars of the President, news clippings, articles, speech drafts and final copies, faxes, email, and notes.
