Washington, D.C. - - First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton will moderate a viewing of slides from
her recent trip to Africa. Slides will be shown from her March 1997 visits to Senegal, South
Mrica, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, arid Eritrea.
Later in the afternoon, the First Lady will speak atP6licy Perspectives on Permanency, a
conference dedicated to adoption, foster care; and child welfare reform at the Renaissance
Washington Hotel. The conference, sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg foundation, will highlight·
ways to improve foster care and adoption systems. Mrs. Clinton; who has been a vocal proponent .
. for adoption, will address these issues and emphasize the importance of finding ways to move
children more quickly from foster to permanent homes.
