An account of the resource
June Shih was Special Assistant to President Clinton and a Presidential Speechwriter from 1998-2000. She wrote speeches for President Clinton which included topics on race relations, education, health care, child care, and the economy. Ms. Shih also participated in drafting two of the State of the Union Addresses and she was also a member of the President's delegation to China in 1998. Before working as a speechwriter for the President June was a speechwriter for First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton from 1995 to 1997. She assisted the First Lady with weekly columns, wrote speeches, talking points, and handled video scripts.In 2000 Shih became the chief speechwriter for Hillary Clinton's senatorial campaign. <br /><br />This collection includes faxes, memorandums, speeches, speech drafts, correspondence, news clippings, reports, and talking points. The collection covers topics relating to child care, diabetes, commencement addresses, education, human rights, Medicare, race relations, radio addresses, drug free schools, Native Americans, tobacco, welfare to work, and women’s careers.<br /><br />This collection is related to other digitized collections.
