DEAR FEL
MOCRAT,
ovembcr 1992 marked the beginning of a new era for oar Party. Since then,
President Clinton has successfully fought to shtink the size of government and lower
the deficit. At the same time, he has worked to expand opportunity for America's
families and businesses, and to make our nation a safer, fairer, and more prosperous
one in which to live and work.
We have come a long way in two years. But we have a long way to go. Today, our
president, our Party, and our nation continue to face many difficult challenges.
To meet those challenges, Party leaders must have the advice and support of recognized
leaders in their fields and communities. Only if there is an ongoing dialogue between
the public and private sectors can we successfully solve the problems that face our people.
To facilitate such a dialogue, we invite you to join one or more of the membership
councils of the Dcmoctatic National Committee. These councils, which are described
in this brochure, allow Democratic supporters to play an active role in determining the
direction of our Party. Council members include many of the most enterprising and
successful business people in the country, and Party leaders continually look to them
fot guidance.
Council members are invited to monthly issue briefings and annual policy retreats with
top Administration, Congressional, and Party leaders. These events provide members
with useful forums to discuss important issues of the day.
In addition to the benefits particular to each council, members have open lines of
communication with the D N C through a staff contact who is teady to tespond to any
requests or suggestions that you may have. Our fax alert network provides council
members with Administration reports, D N C policy and opposition research, the
D N C Daily Briefing, and a quarterly newsletter featuring upcoming D N C events
and a financial update. Futthermore, governors, senatots, congressional representatives, and D N C Chaits serve as liaisons to the councils to ensure a high level of
political commitment to council activities.
Council members are the cornerstone of our Party. Their advice and financial
supporr arc critical to electing Democrats at all levels of government and moving
the country forward into the 21st ccntuty.
We hope you will give serious consideration to joining one of our D N C
membership councils, and we look forward to working with you in the future.

\/Y<A/'
.//'/fVl,/.
Since I took office, the Democratic National Committee, through its several membership councils, has worked tirelessly to bring the top business and community leaders
from across the country into the ranks of leadership in the Democratic Party. These
private sector leaders have helped tremendously to support our agenda to reward hard
work and responsibility, streamline the federal government, and restore hope and
prosperity to working families.
As we look to the future, we face many challenges - not only as a party, but as a nation.
Your participation in a D N C membership council will help ensure that we meet those
challenges, and build a better America.
