This Mandatory Declassification Review contains documents from the files of John Beyrle, Director for Russian, Ukraine, and Eurasian Affairs for the National Security Council. Included is an October 19, 1993 letter from President William J. Clinton to Eduard Shevardnadze, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Georgia and a memo from Anthony Lake to the President regarding comments he made in Moscow on the role of the Russian military in neighboring states.
