This collection consists of material related to correspondence between Betty Friedan and Hillary Clinton. During the 1940’s and 1950’s, Betty Friedan was involved in the civil rights and women’s rights movements. Friedan’s influential book, The Feminine Mystique, was published in 1963. Friedan cofounded the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966, helped start the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws in 1969, and continued her advoacy for women and the feminist movement through the 1970s and 1980s.The correspondence dates from 1993 to 1995 and contains of invitations and replies to events exploring media coverage of women, symposiums on new paradigms for women and men, seminars on women and men in the workplace, and seminars on re-framing family values.
