This collection consists of material related to the 1998 Higher Education Act Reauthorization. It was originally enacted as part of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society domestic program in 1965. It contains correspondence, memoranda, newspaper articles, handwritten notes, charts, reports, lists, press releases, agendas, and emails. Topics of these documents include student loan proposals, Pell Grants, loan forgiveness, schools as lenders, and the role of community service in student loan deferment.

This collection consists of records related to National Service and AmeriCorps. It contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, schedules, press materials, invitations, legislative drafts, emails, and notes mostly regarding the passage and first year of the national service initiative which subsequently became known as AmeriCorps.

One America came into existence as the result of Executive Order 13050. The organization consisted of a seven member Race Initiative Advisory Board appointed by the President himself. John Hope Franklin, a distinguished historian and educator, became the chairman of the committee. According to the Executive Order, the board’s primary mission to “counsel [Clinton] on ways to improve the quality” of the relationship between the many and diverse peoples of the United States.

Description
An account of the resource
This collection consists of memoranda, reports, drafts, publications, handwritten notes, correspondence, talking points, and press releases regarding One America in the 21st Century: The President’s Initiative on Race. One America came into existence as the result of Executive Order 13050. The organization consisted of a seven member Race Initiative Advisory Board appointed by the President himself. John Hope Franklin, a distinguished historian and educator, became the chairman of the committee. According to the Executive Order, the board’s primary mission to “counsel [Clinton] on ways to improve the quality” of the relationship between the many and diverse peoples of the United States.
