This collection consists of records related to cryptography, encryption, Pretty Good Privacy, or Philip Zimmerman. Philip Zimmerman is a computer scientist and software engineer who created and released the email encryption software Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) in 1991. The bulk of the records consist of electronic newsletters, listserv digests, and news articles regarding internet privacy rights, encrypting sensitive information communicated via the internet, and the legality of exporting encryption software such as PGP. This collection contains emails and other electronic records.
